Daniel Lombardi produces exclusive designs made by the artisans of Talentos, a non-governmental organization in Argentina, following traditional and modern techniques. By acquiring one of these handbags, you help to create a socio-economic alternative for the families and communities of the artisans who brought it to life.

History

The fusion of Daniel Lombardi and Talentos in 2007 resulted in a productive undertaking based on an original idea by Daniel: to develop certain skills or talents in women of low income, and to support once more a social project for the community.

As part of this undertaking, women are trained in the art of knitting, macramé, crochet and other needlepoint techniques, as well as instructed in the process of finishing items with high quality horns and semi precious stones, and the commercialization of same. They not only learn the skills necessary to produce the handbags, but also receive an economic incentive to help engross their minimum wages.

While the mothers are being trained, the children participate in activities in the kindergarten that the same organization sustains.

Who is Talentos?

Talentos Civil Association is an organization that has as its main objective to achieve the fulfillment of the most vulnerable in the community: children, women, the elderly, aborígenes and immigrants.

When working with them, Talentos looks to improve their socio-economic level, as well as their educational, spiritual, cultural and personal ones.  The goal is to develop the “talents” of the people who have not had the right opportunities, by those who are successful and have the necessary human and financial means to do so.

Talentos works with two programs: the first one is a human development program targeted towards the most vulnerable in the community; the second one is an indirect one to assist and help other institutions and NGO’s.

Talentos is a non-profit organization and all of its funds are destined to the execution of its projects.

In 2005, Talentos started a community development program for mothers offering various workshops including theater, knitting/needlepoint (from which the productive micro undertaking with Daniel Lombardi was born), design, parental guidance and workshops for children to help with their school work, English language classes and more. Additionally, a health plan is offered, as well as workshops on abuse and domestic violence prevention, as well as those designed to strengthen skills and raise self-esteem.
